FactoryMaster sponsors Flying Formula in the Rolex Fastnet yacht race
August 19th, 2011 – FactoryMaster the award winning MRP manufacturing software
solution sponsors Flying Formula a Sigma 38 in the IRC 4 fleet at this year’s Rolex
Fastnet yacht race finishing in Plymouth. FactoryMaster’s new Sales manager, Brian
Graham steps up to the mark as a keen and enthusiastic participant on Flying Formula
and helped the team finish 92nd out of 313.
The race is a grueling 608 miles long, and took an incredible 4½ days to complete.
The race started from the Royal Yacht Squadron off Cowes in the Isle of Wight, heading
towards the southwest tip of Ireland, and back around the Scilly Isles finally to
the finish line in Plymouth.
Brian Graham comments “It was physically exhausting and mentally draining, but absolutely
worth it. It is hard to describe the mixed emotions of euphoria and relief when
finally crossing the finishing line and achieving a lifetime goal in what is recognized
as one of the world’s most challenging yacht races.”
This was the 44th edition of the race and has substantially grown in popularity
each year. With 19 nations participating and around 313 competing yachts, the Fastnet
race is seen as one of the UK’s most prestigious yachting event.
The weather and sea proved challenging which was highlighted when the 100ft Maxis
yacht rambler 100 capsized just off the coast at Cork after her keel broke, thankfully
all 21 crew were rescued safely. All in all, the hardship, the danger and the excitement,
all played a part in another successful Fastnet yacht race.
FactoryMaster will be looking forward to the next race in 2013, and are confident on
Brian Graham’s ability to improve on the finishing position.
