FactoryMaster are proud to say they are a product sponsor of “Bloodhound SSC”’ - the British-built rocket and jet powered supersonic car. This project is a follow on from Thrust SSC, which originally broke the land speed record in 1997, under the direction of Richard Noble and with Andy Green as the driver. Both Richard and Andy have high hopes of achieving mach 1.4 and breaking the 1,000mph mark to set a new world record.
The project itself has been in the early stage of development for the past year, but has already made rapid progress, including a notable partnership being formed between Bloodhound and Northern Cape Government. This means that “Bloodhound SSC” has the full support of the local South African government, who share the same enthusiasm about what this project could mean and achieve on a global scale.
Under the product sponsorship agreement, a full copy of FactoryMaster’s MRP software is supplied, which will help the Bloodhound team control all key construction phases as they build their supersonic car. FactoryMaster’s system allows for fast and efficient tracing of all parts needed and gives the users clear and concise information on each individual part. This has been proven to help improve productivity, with the system saving time on administration activity behind the supply chain process.
The main aim of the Bloodhound project is surprisingly not to just break the land speed record, but above all to motivate children from 5 to 19 and get them excited about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (S.T.E.M). The Bloodhound team are aiming for their world record to be completed by August 2011. Such a high profile, imagination capturing project on such a scale as this will undoubtedly inspire youngsters to want to enter the pioneering world of engineering. This educational aspect of the project is called the Bloodhound Education Program and already an amazing 2,410 schools, (10% of all English schools) have already signed up.
Eventual success may be three years down the line, but the Bloodhound project still has a long way to achieve their goal. FactoryMaster firmly believe that their system will play a key role in the successful achievement of the Bloodhound’s goals. FactoryMaster are very proud to be so closely associated with Bloodhound SSC and wish them every success. For more information on the Bloodhound project, please visit: http://www.bloodhoundssc.com/
